Masonry Heaters
Burn one hot fire; radiate gentle heat for 12–24 hours. Over 90% efficient wood heating.
A masonry heater is a centuries-old idea engineered for the way Canadian winters actually work. You burn a short, very hot, clean fire. The heater’s massive stone-and-firebrick core absorbs that heat and then releases it slowly as soft radiant warmth for 12 to 24 hours — long after the fire is out.
The result is a heating system that is over 90% efficient, sips firewood, and keeps a steady, comfortable warmth instead of the blast-then-chill of an ordinary fireplace. Udo designs and sizes each heater to your home, your floor plan, and how you live.
Frequently asked
How much wood does a masonry heater use?
Far less than a conventional stove or fireplace — typically one or two small, hot fires a day. Because the mass stores the heat, you are not feeding it constantly.
How big a space can it heat?
Sizing depends on your insulation and layout, but a single well-placed heater can warm an open 1,500–2,500 sq ft home. Udo calculates the right size during the design.
Can I add a bake oven or heated bench?
Yes. Bake/pizza ovens, heated benches, and hot-water coils are popular add-ons that use the same fire. Try them in the online Design Wizard.
